Isn't it funny how when things have been so bad for so long, you can become a superhero just by using basic common sense?
"We will now follow international law in our prosecutions and questioning of terror suspects."
REVOLUTIONARY! America will follow the international law we pressed to put into place in the first place? Crazy . . .
"We will now accept scientific evidence as a basis for our science-based policies."
What? You're going to listen to scientists when making decisions about science? Weirdos.
"We are going to join the rest of the entire world in trying to reduce carbon emissions."
C'mon. Just because CHINA his tighter emissions restrictions that America does, that isn't a sign that something might be a bit out of balance, now is it?

The world will be an unsafer place.(We have now released quite a few terrorists, one of whom is right back up at the top of the ladder.) Science is overrated. (The Book of Mormon has been "prove" wrong.) And apparently tighter emissions restrictions in China hasn't helped them out either. And now I'm probably done with my political soap box for the day. Although I could be convinced to get back on and do some more.
1) To me, a world where America and Americans find it morally acceptable to hold anyone we want, for as long as we want, and do anything we want to them as long as we label them 'enemy combatants' is infinitely more frightening than allowing terrorists a fair and legal trial according the law we hold the rest of the world to. Even if we sometimes make mistakes. I'd far rather let 10 guilty men go free than put ONE innocent man through that kind of hell.
There's a reason Patrick Henry didn't say "Give me liberty or give me . . . security."
2) So, we should let politicians make science policy based on . . . politics? Because they are obviously better suited to make scientific policy than people trained in science. Look what a great job they do with everything else!
3) So . . . America should just give up, so you can also enjoy the fantastic smell of coal smoke in the morning?
You're right. Obama says, "right. We're gonna stop being such blatant hypocrites now" and the world is stunned at his enlightened policy! Keep on keepin on, Obama!
That being said, Rome never thought their supreme power could possibly end and look what happened. I think we're headed the same way eventually.
I came across this quote today: "Nothing astonishes men so much as common sense and plain dealing." Emerson
