When you're standing in a Beijing McDonalds trying to remember how to say french fries in Chinese and you see this woman in line next to you and there's no way to describe her dirty-tube-top-wearing, back-of-neck-tattoo-sporting, haven't-washed-my-hair-in-six-days, may-possibly-be-the-twin-sister-of-the-girl-that-lived-under-us-when-we-used-to-live-in-the-Projects vibe except to use the phrase "White Trash" which you hate but now understand after living in said Projects and you are pondering how she's the first person you've seen able to be so described since you moved here and you are thinking how it's too bad that some people give others such a bad impression of Americans when they are abroad and . . .
. . . and then she opens her mouth and starts speaking German.

Okay, I really laughed out loud with this one. Especially since my German relatives invariably have a dialogue when we visit each other about how terrible American tourists are. :-) Generally we agree on most points in this regard. That is just too funny.
BTW, my sis went on her mission to Japan and so we have now hosted many from that area. The English writing on the shirts is just as funny as Chinese. :-)
hahaha! We don't see any of those types of Americans here either (but England has its own special brand). But we do see lots of Americans on the continent, and they are ALWAYS the loudest tourists with most grating accents. However, they are also the cheeriest, most positive and friendly, too. So there's that.
I went to that McDonald's and had a REAL soft ice cream cone! heaven!
